Hola.

Muchas gracias

hi Vladislav, I observed the EA for my AT Mt5 broker set a stop loss 3 points above the entry price for GPBUSD as first modification action. But that was not expected action as per the setting parameters.
See in details the problem. I am presenting this to you to see if that is EA problem or has to do something with the broker:
As you see Entry price for this SHORT position was 1.31120 and the first S/L Set by the EA was 1.31117, only 3 points away from the entry price (in profitable zone).
my settings:
1. Profit Trailing: True
2. StartTrailingPoint: 76
remaining settings..Basically I do not want to close the position with losses. So I have not set any Stop loss. But i am using Trailing profits. Intention was if GBPUSD drops below 76 points the entry price, then trailing stop to be used 20 points below the current price. That expected to have been 1.31120-0.00076+0.00020 = 1.31064.
But to my huge surprise the EA set the first S/L at a very high price 3 points away from entry price at 1.31117 as you see. 3 points was the trailing step but this should not have been taken into the calculations over here for first S/L Calculation. Pls help out!

That's right. You set the step to 3 points. That means
that when the price is below the opening price by the distance TrailingStop+TrailingStep, then the stop loss for the short position will be set to the current price-TrailingStop
TrailingStop+TrailingStep=43
Accordingly, the first modification will be at a distance of -40 points.
That is, to stop loss = 40 points. And this will always be the distance during modification, 40 points from the current price.
TrailingStep - this is the step when the stop loss is modified. When the price goes more or equal to 3 points.
But I also want to note that the price can jump not 3 points, but 10 points at once. But the stop loss will always be modified at a distance of 40 points from the current price.
That is, 3 step points for the first modification.
There is no mistake here.

Thank you Vladislav,
1. I think in your calculation there is a typo error. My Trailing stop as per the screen shot above was 20 points, not 40. So you probably meant "
TrailingStop+TrailingStep=23
Accordingly, the first modification will be at a distance of -20 points.
That is, to stop loss = 20 points".
Kindly CONFIRM
If the above is confirmed then i understand the 3 points S/L I enquired for is fully explained. The S/L was set to 1.31117 while entry price was 1.31120. That is 3 points as at that moment current price was entry price - Trailing Stop - Trailing step = 1.31120-20-3 = 1.31097 and the first S/L was set 20 points above that price, that is 1.31097+20 points =1.31117
2. i fully agree the price may jump hence expecting a S/L exactly as per the rules above may not always be the case. That is clear and very much valid scenario for volatile market conditions, i.e after big impact news announcements.
3. I need to understand where the "StartTrailingPoint: 76" set value fits here. That was not explained before. I mean in your calculations you did not consider that value. To this extent, i want to explain my requirement. Kindly advise how i can set up the related parameters for that.
a. I want the S/L value to be populated as per the given logic (as modification) only when the StartTrailingPoint: 76 is hit. In that very GBPUSD Short position example when the GBPUSD falls below 76 points from the entry price.
b. Triggering will be the price breach below 76 points and actual value of the first S/L i want to achieve should be as of that time: Current price + TrailingStop
Current price should be 1.31120 -0.00076 = 1.31044 hence the rest calculations should be: 1.31044 +20 points = 1.31064.
See that My StopLoss is set to 0 (That means i not want to use stop loss to protect the positions against any negative value). Pls advise if that can be set with the EA and how or what would be the most approximate set up for that.
Many thanks!

Please attach a full screenshot with the current stop level and spread. And log file from EA.
After all, the Utility cannot set a stop loss closer than allowed on the server. The minimum stop must be passed to modify the position.
About the number 40 - it does not matter here. The main thing here is the number 3.
For example, if you set a value of 10, then when the deal enters into a plus (profit)10 points, TrailingStop starts working algorithm TrailingStop.
Yes, you are right. Trailing should have started its work only after reaching StartTrailingPoint points.
That is written in the logic. That is, for a short position.
Only when the current closing price (ask) is lower than the opening price - StartTrailingPoint points, only then does the trailing function start working.
To understand the chronology of actions, you need the assistant's log file (Expert Advisor), all actions and prices will be visible there.

1. I did go to the Expert Log and i can see that:
a. The EA triggered the stop loss at the correct timing, when the position exceeded the set value for StartTrailingPoint points, that was 76 points. As you can see in the log below, it set the first S/L when the price hit 102 points below the entry price. So far so good.
b. What i do not see and i do not agree with, is the value the actual S/L was set. That was only my concern in this question, how the price of 1.31117 was formed. If you see the BID price for GBPUSD as of the moment the S/L triggered was 1.31018.
My expectation: To have seen a S/L value modified to a price equal to 1.31018 +20 points (assuming the Trailingstop value was set to 20). That should have been 1.31038 and not the huge price of 1.31117. The only thing i can think of for such huge difference is that the price may have moved. But still very big difference to justify.
2. Yes if brokers do not allow S/L very close to current price that cannot be set. But that is not the case here. We can still set any desired stop loss by using the Virtual stops by the way..

You have a minimum stop = 200 points. Most likely because of this, the trailing parameters are set to a minimum stop = 200 points. This is more than 76 and 20. I also want to clarify that it is floating. This means that at the time of setting the trailing, it could have been a different value. You cannot set a trailing stop closer than the minimum stop on the server. A full log file would give more information.
Great, seems we found the problem and that is broker related. Meaning, The broker was forcing a minimum 200 points S/L and since my S/L was less than that we were getting problems. Solution would be to turn on the Virtual Trailing Stop as per the attached.
I attach as well and as requested the full log. Earlier I had provided the Full Experts Log. Now i attach the Journal log. But i think you found the problem Vladislav. Let me know if you agree with my suggested solution.

I think that's exactly the problem.
Perhaps such a stop level was made before the weekend, or in a too fast market.
Unfortunately, brokers sometimes do this.
A virtual stop can help in some situations.
But keep in mind that a virtual stop is the closing of a position upon the triggering of a level (virtual) and when closing there may be requotes if the broker really starts to interfere.
