What is Astrarium
Astrarium is a line of five Expert Advisors for MetaTrader 5 that trade gold (XAUUSD). All models share one engine — a portfolio of independent trading strategies tested on gold's price history. The models differ in how many strategies run at once, which markets they trade and which protections are switched on.
Fig. 1. The Astrarium family — five models
The name comes from the astrolabe, the instrument sailors used to navigate by the stars. Every model's emblem has the same golden core, and the rings around it multiply with each tier.
What all five models have in common:
• no grids, no martingale, no averaging into losing positions;
• a short menu: the buyer picks a risk profile and a mode, while the strategy parameters are tuned by the author and improved in new versions;
• a daily loss limit and a news filter;
• a free-margin check before every order;
• an on-chart panel: profile, status, daily and monthly result.
Five tiers: from simple to advanced
The models form a ladder: each tier adds strategies, markets or account protection.
Fig. 2. The five tiers of Astrarium
1. Astrarium One — one strategy, never more than one open position. The simplest way to start; trades from a $300 deposit.
2. Astrarium Day — three strategies; all positions are closed before the trading day ends. Nothing is carried overnight or over the weekend.
3. Astrarium Gold — 11 independent strategies on gold. This is a true portfolio: a loss in one strategy is often offset by the others.
4. Astrarium Atlas — the same 11 strategies plus two on US indices, Nasdaq 100 and Dow Jones 30. Risk is spread between gold and the stock market.
5. Astrarium Vault — the Atlas engine plus an account-protection module for prop firms: daily limit, maximum loss from the starting balance, profit target and drawdown brake.
The models in detail
Astrarium One — tier 1
Fig. 3. Astrarium One
Best for: a first EA, a small deposit, predictable behaviour.
Inside: one strategy, never more than one open position, a stop loss on every trade.
Risk profiles: Conservative — 1% risk per trade, Balanced — 2%, Aggressive — 3%, Custom — your own risk from 0.1 to 5%, Fixed lot — a fixed lot size.
Direction: buy and sell, buy only or sell only.
Deposit: from $300; every profile is available at that size.
Astrarium Day — tier 2
Fig. 4. Astrarium Day
Best for: traders who don't want positions open overnight or at weekends and don't want to pay swaps.
Inside: three strategies. By the end of the trading day the EA closes every position and removes pending orders.
Profiles: Conservative ×1, Balanced ×2, Aggressive ×3, Custom (your own multiplier from 0.25 to 5), Fixed lot.
Astrarium Gold — tier 3
Fig. 5. Astrarium Gold
Best for: traders who want a full portfolio on gold.
Inside: 11 independent strategies. Positions from different strategies may be open at the same time and may be held overnight.
Gradual start: on a small account the strategies can be switched on step by step — they are added as the balance grows.
Profiles: same as Day.
Astrarium Atlas — tier 4
Fig. 6. Astrarium Atlas
Best for: traders who want to spread risk between gold and the US stock market.
Inside: the 11 Gold strategies plus 2 strategies on the Nasdaq 100 and Dow Jones 30 indices — 13 in total.
Important: the EA is attached to an XAUUSD chart and trades the indices on its own. Brokers name these symbols differently (NAS100, US100, USTEC; DJ30, US30, WS30) — enter them in the inputs and enable them in Market Watch. If your broker has no indices, the index strategies stay off and the other 11 keep working.
Profiles: same as Day and Gold.
Astrarium Vault — tier 5
Fig. 7. Astrarium Vault
Best for: prop-firm accounts (challenge and funded account) and anyone who needs strict risk limits.
Inside: the Atlas engine (13 strategies) plus an account-protection module.
Modes: Challenge, Funded, Growth and Custom — see the section on profiles.
Model comparison
The main difference is the number of strategies and markets: from one strategy on gold to thirteen on gold and indices. The more independent strategies, the smoother the equity curve — but the more positions can be open at the same time.
Fig. 8. How the Astrarium models differ
How to choose your model
Fig. 9. Which Astrarium is right for you
• First EA or a deposit from $300 → One.
• You don't want to carry positions overnight or over weekends → Day.
• You want a portfolio of strategies on gold → Gold.
• You want to add US indices to gold → Atlas.
• You trade a prop-firm account or need a hard loss limit → Vault.
Run one model per account. Gold, Atlas and Vault use the same gold strategies: on one account together, their gold risk would add up.
Getting started: five steps
Fig. 10. Up and running in five steps
6. Buy or rent the EA on the Market. In the terminal it appears in the Navigator: Expert Advisors → Market.
7. Open your broker's gold chart (XAUUSD, XAUUSD+, GOLD — the name varies). All tests were run on M1, and we recommend this timeframe. For Atlas and Vault, add the index symbols to Market Watch.
8. Drag the EA onto the chart and allow algorithmic trading on the Common tab.
9. Choose a risk profile on the Inputs tab. Start with Conservative.
10. Turn on the Algo Trading button in the terminal toolbar. The EA panel with its status appears on the chart.
The EA must run without interruption on every trading day, so you need a VPS — the built-in MetaTrader Virtual Hosting works too.
What the buyer can set
Fig. 11. What the buyer can set
The menu is deliberately short:
• Money: risk profile, your own multiplier or risk (Custom), fixed lot, maximum lot, daily loss limit.
• Mode: news filter — skips NFP and FOMC decision days; gradual start of strategies; in One — trade direction.
• General: magic number, on-chart panel.
Strategy parameters — entries, exits, trading hours — are tuned by the author and locked. That way every buyer gets exactly the system that passed the tests, and improvements arrive as new versions through the Market.
Risk profiles
Fig. 12. Risk profiles
In Day, Gold and Atlas the profile sets a position-size multiplier. The trades are the same in every profile — only the size changes. So drawdown grows together with profit: in the Atlas 2020–2026 test it was 12.3% on Conservative, 23.5% on Balanced and 33.5% on Aggressive.
• Conservative ×1 — base size, the recommended start.
• Balanced ×2 — twice as large.
• Aggressive ×3 — three times as large; only if you are ready for deep drawdowns.
• Custom — your own multiplier from 0.25 to 5.
• Fixed lot — the same lot for every trade.
In One the profile sets risk per trade: 1%, 2% or 3% of the balance; in Custom — from 0.1 to 5%.
Position size is calculated from the current balance: as the account grows, so does the lot. The maximum lot setting caps it.
Vault modes
Fig. 13. Astrarium Vault modes
• Challenge — for passing a challenge: size ×2, daily limit 4%, maximum loss 8% of the starting balance, target +10%.
• Funded — for a funded account: size ×1, daily limit 3%, maximum loss 6%. No target; the EA trades within these limits.
• Growth — for your own account: size ×3; at a 15% drawdown the brake engages and position size is halved.
• Custom — your own values.
Starting balance. All limits are measured from the starting balance, which the EA records on its first launch.
When the target is reached — two options:
• Step up (default): the current balance becomes the new start, the target and maximum loss are recalculated from it, and trading continues. If the maximum loss is hit later, the EA closes positions, waits for the next trading day and continues from the new level.
• Stop: at the target or the maximum loss the EA closes everything and stops — as a challenge requires. To start again, set a new starting balance.
In the 2020–2026 test in Challenge mode, 64 of 81 steps (79%) reached the +10% target before the 8% loss limit.
On-chart panel
Fig. 14. The EA panel on the chart
The panel shows the profile, how many strategies are active, the daily and monthly result, open positions, status and limits. It shows no strategy names and no entry levels. The status tells you what the EA is doing right now: waiting for a signal, skipping a news day, or stopped by the daily limit until tomorrow.
Backtest results
Fig. 15. Backtest results 2020–2026, Conservative profile
At the same base risk, Gold, Atlas and Vault grew 3–5 times more than One over 2020–2026 with a comparable drawdown of 10–12%. Day grows more modestly but has the lowest drawdown — 7%. There was one weak year — 2023: Gold +3%, Atlas +2%.
Conditions: MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, "Every tick based on real ticks" mode, XAUUSD from a real broker, $6 commission per lot, January 2020 – September 2026. Conservative profile (One — 1% risk per trade), $10,000 start; Vault — Funded mode with a $50,000 start.
The Balanced and Aggressive profiles return several times more on history, but their drawdowns are 2–3 times deeper. Past results do not guarantee the same in the future: a backtest does not capture every condition of a live account — slippage, your broker's spread and commission.
Recommendations
• An ECN or RAW account with a low spread and commission on gold, server time GMT+2 / GMT+3, leverage of 1:100 or higher.
• A VPS close to your broker's server: the EA needs to run continuously.
• Start on a demo account or with the Conservative profile, and raise risk only after several months of observation.
• Choose a profile for the drawdown you can live with, not for the profit you want. Don't change it after every losing trade.
• One model per account.
Questions and answers
Can I trade another instrument? The EAs are built and tested for gold. Trading other symbols is not recommended.
Which timeframe should I use? M1 — all tests were run on it.
Why can't I change the strategy parameters? So that every buyer runs the same system that passed the tests. Improvements come out as new versions; updates arrive through the Market.
Which model should I start with? If in doubt — One on Conservative, or Day if you don't want to hold positions overnight. You can move to a higher model at any time.
What if my broker names the indices differently? Enter their exact names in the Atlas or Vault inputs and enable the symbols in Market Watch.
Risk warning
Trading financial markets with leverage carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for everyone. You may lose part or all of your deposit. Backtest and past results do not guarantee future profits. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
