Prop Firm Guardian enforces prop-firm risk rules on your whole MetaTrader 5 account, in real time. It works with manual trading and with any other Expert Advisor on the same account.

When a limit is about to be reached (by default at 95% of it), it closes every position (largest loss first), deletes pending orders and keeps the account flat until the lock ends. Any new position opened during a lock is closed immediately.

Match your firm's formula, not a generic one

Daily loss as % of the initial balance, % of the day-start reference, or a fixed amount
Daily loss measured from the balance at the reset, the equity at the reset, or the higher of both
Daily reset in broker time, UTC, Central Europe (CET/CEST) or New York (EST/EDT), with daylight saving time applied automatically, or a custom UTC offset
Maximum loss: static, trailing on the highest equity, or trailing on the highest day-start balance, with the option to stop the trailing floor at the initial balance
Safety buffer: act at a % of the limit you choose (default 95%) and warn earlier (default 70%)

What happens at a limit

Daily limit: everything is closed and trading is locked until the next daily reset
Maximum loss: everything is closed and trading is locked until you press Reset (new account)
Locks are saved per account and survive terminal restarts, re-attaching the EA and input changes

Optional rules

Profit target: close all and lock when the phase target is reached, so the profit is not given back
Daily profit lock for consistency rules
Weekend close (Friday HH:MM) and a trading window (positions opened outside it are closed)
Maximum open positions and maximum lots per position (the excess is reduced with a partial close)

A panel that answers "how much can I still lose?"

Balance, equity, floating P/L, today's P/L, daily loss used with a progress bar, equity floor for today, room before action in money, maximum-loss floor (static or trailing), profit-target progress, trading days and a countdown to the next reset. The panel is light (it only redraws values that change), can be dragged and minimised.

Alerts and journal

Pop-up, sound, push and e-mail alerts without repetitions. Every event (new day, warning, protective close, rule action) is written to a CSV journal with balance and equity.

Setup in three steps

Enable Algo Trading and attach the Guardian to one chart (any symbol).
Enter the initial balance and your firm's rules.
Keep MetaTrader 5 running, ideally on a VPS.

Example patterns (always check your firm's current rules)

Classic two-step: 5% daily of initial, balance at reset, 00:00 Central Europe, 10% static
One-step trailing: 4% daily of initial, 6% trailing on equity that stops at the initial balance
New York day: reset 17:00 New York, equity at reset

Good to know

The Guardian protects only while the terminal is running and connected.
It cannot prevent price gaps, slippage or broker rejections; in fast markets the final loss can exceed the action threshold. That is why it acts before the limit.
MetaTrader 5 does not allow an EA to switch off other EAs or Algo Trading; the Guardian closes their new positions immediately instead.
If it was not running at the daily reset, it rebuilds the balance at the reset from history and marks the value with "*". An equity reference can only be exact when it was running at the reset.
It applies the rules you enter. A risk tool does not guarantee passing an evaluation.
Hedging and netting accounts. One chart per account (a second copy stays passive).

Strategy Tester: the tester has no other trader, so a simulated trader opens and closes positions and you can watch the daily and maximum locks work. On live charts the Guardian never opens trades.
