Official clarification: preventing MT5 terminal auto-launch during and after mt5setup.exe installation
Hello MetaQuotes Support Team,
I am requesting an authoritative technical clarification about the MetaTrader 5 web installer.
My objective is to install MetaTrader 5 in an isolated test environment without allowing terminal64.exe, or any equivalent MT5 terminal process, to launch during installation or immediately after completion.
Installer details
- Filename: mt5setup.exe
- File VersionInfo: 5.0.0.6257
- Size: 22,902,352 bytes
- SHA-256: c8c0a73f86c58974df62fb48f8256a099d6698518cf2defc2b3f169773729e22
- Environment: macOS 27.0.1, Apple Silicon (arm64), MetaTrader 5 bundled Wine 11.1, isolated Wine prefix
I reviewed the official Platform Installation documentation (https://www.metatrader5.com/en/terminal/help/start_advanced/installation), including the /auto and /path options, but could not identify an explicit guarantee preventing terminal startup.
Could you please clarify:
1. Is there an officially supported installer option or installation-only procedure that guarantees no MT5 terminal process will start during installation or immediately afterward?
2. Does that guarantee apply specifically to the web installer with VersionInfo 5.0.0.6257?
3. Does it prevent process execution throughout installation, including any terminal process launched by the installer or its child processes?
4. Is this mechanism supported under Wine 11.1 on macOS/arm64? If this configuration is not tested or supported, please state that explicitly.
5. Does the guarantee remain valid if installation fails, is canceled, is interrupted, or is only partially completed?
I specifically need pre-execution prevention, not a method that detects or terminates the terminal after it has already started.
If there is no officially supported method or no guarantee for these conditions, please confirm that explicitly.

Ryosuke N:
if you dont want mt5 to automaticly load after installation, then i recommend using a portable folder. you can search for that. and only use release versions. they are less prone to bugs. The version you have mentioned is beta, ie for testing purposes only.
