Check out the new article: Controlling MetaTrader 5 from Telegram with Hermes and MCP.
Hermes Agent links a private Telegram bot to the MetaTrader 5 MCP interface, so natural-language requests call terminal tools under controlled permissions. The article shows how to install Hermes on Windows, configure an AI service and the Telegram gateway, authorize users, and add the MCP settings generated by the terminal. Readers learn to run read‑only checks, perform bounded MQL5 edits and compilation, launch Strategy Tester runs, inspect market and account data, and enable trading tools deliberately.
Traditional remote-access tools such as RDP solve that problem in the broadest possible way: they give you a full desktop session. But that is often more access than you want to grant, and more exposure than you want to manage. For many development and testing tasks, what you really need is something narrower: a controlled path that lets an authorized user send a specific request from a phone or another computer, have that request executed locally, and get back a result that can be checked against the terminal.
This article describes exactly that pattern. Hermes Agent runs on a Windows machine, connects a private Telegram bot to MetaTrader 5’s native MCP interface (build 6060 or later), and turns approved Telegram messages into bounded MCP operations. Instead of exposing the whole desktop, you expose only the subset of terminal actions that you deliberately enable.
