Honestly, both methods have their place. If you have time and discipline, manual trading gives you a better feel for the market. If you want consistency and fewer emotions, automation helps you stick to the rules. Most serious traders end up using a mix of both — manual analysis with some automated tools to support the process.

I think that everyone, including me, starts out as a manual trader─except for programmers that come over to trading from other industries, perhaps. I actually started out on stocks/equities several decades ago and automated trading platforms were, and are, extremely rare in stock/equity trading (in the U.S.) Anyway, it's helpful to start out manually in order to get a sense of which tools tend to work before learning code.

By way of a lengthy (and messy) process of elimination, I've evolved into an algorithmic MFT futures and FX swing trader. I found that the problem with trading global futures and FX manually is that beneficial price moves therein tend to be scattered across multiple international trading sessions. A person could literally lose their mind while trying to manually monitor a global market 24 hours per day and 5 days per week. Simply put, a bot doesn't possess the demands nor the subconscious variables of myself, the human.

both have some great opurtunities, I think there is no "best" as long you make consistent profit and that could be on both.

I think that trading manually gives more emotions than with EAs, there are people that like the feeling of taking trades.

In the long term, I have seen that most traders gravitate into aumatic systems.
