Strategy Tester Agent Manager under MacOS stopped working

Hello,

I have Metatrader 5 running on macOS 26.

For some reason adding agents stopped working in the Agents Manager application on both my Macs.

I know it worked just a week or two ago... I reinstalled MT5, deleted everything I found related to MT5 and reinstalled and nothing.

This is the error I am getting when trying to add an agent on the Mac.

Your help is really appreciated on this.

With all due respect to both MetaQuotes and Apple - MetaTrader on Mac is a hassle at the moment.

Get Windows (Parallels Desktop on Mac) and focus on your strategy not errors and lost files. In case you are keen to use plain macOS - here is a thread where users manage successfully MT5/Mac

I have parallels, but I will not buy parallels license for every other computer I have. It gets expensive. 

This was working and stopped… I’m sure the gods at MetaTrader can easily fix it.

Oh its a pity. MetaTester usually works on Mac in a good way, maybe it is something with your computer...

Two Mac’s of mine it doesn’t work. If we can fix it on mine maybe Itll help others. 

Tried to dig around log files but can’t find anything related to this. 

I’m sure it’s some kind of missing folder in the wine installation. Has to be something really stupid lol

Ok so I downloaded this tool (Find any File) for MacOS and searched for anything related to Metaquote, metatrader, wine... and deleted everything.

Reinstalled and now it works.

So there was some deep config file somewhere that prevented things to work properly.

Problem came back... I dug and I found this in the agent log:
