You can look in the signals section. There it shows if people are trading 100% automated or not. There are 100% automated signals that show impressive profits

Majority fails because market is always evolving and if you make an EA for certain type of market then it will fail when market switch.. but a good number of EA's are making impressive growth.

As long as I use very low risk and am happy with slow growth its ok. But when I try to go too fast it backfires.

Well said. Statistics confirm that. Experienced traders use a minimum of 10 to 20 years of backtesting data, coupled with forward testing, to verify profitability an EA. A good slow growth EA generates about 20% profit annually--nothing astonishing.

It's important to note that in trading off-exchange forex or CFD markets, EA's are highly broker-dealer specific. In centralized futures markets, EA's are more universal across multiple brokers due to centralized liquidity and trade execution. In both cases, EA's are symbol/instrument specific.
