MT5 strategy tester suddenly stoped working?

Hey guys I'm new to using MT5 and have been developing some EAs recently all has been going well with backtesting for the last few weeks then all of a sudden the visualisation just stopped working? if anyone can help with this would be very much appreciated. Thanks

since this is a technical forum, you need to add all the technical info when you open a new thread such as your system info such as the first 3 lines of your journal when you first open mt5. These contain version of windows, mt5, and how much memory and hard drive space that you have availiable.

But usually such events as you describe are caused by 2 things in my experience: 1. not enuf memory, 2. not enuf harddrive space.

And without any errors being reported from your journal or logs, then, moderators and other users will only be able to guesses and unspecific comments, so you will get nowhere unless you can add at least the info i suggested.

The 3rd thing -- and maybe i should have made this number 1. The code. Unless you post your code below, then, the only other comments that you will get from moderators and other users is sarcasm and comments such as my favourite: we can not see your screen, we can not read your mind and my real favourite "our crystal balls are broken and cracked".

Hi I’m using Mac OS there is plenty of room on the drives … It was working fine until an update today ( update comes more or less instantly after re installing mt5 ) if I don’t shut down the program after I re install mt5 it works ok as soon as I restart and the update takes effect then I lose visuals on strategy testing and even the built in free eas fail to back test so the update has caused this …. There are no errors in the journal when testing my own eas just screen says waiting for update … so no error codes to share ! Thanks for your reply

sorry, but there is very little support for MacOS. your best is to search this website, however, I am not aware of any recent MacOS threads started in last few days, cept for this one. even the moderators appologise for not being able to help.

All i can suggest is that you close mt5 and delete the config and tester/cache folders, and then restart mt5 and download your tick data from scratch. This is a method i have read in older threads that has worked in MacOS. Good Luck to you. And please -- if you find the solution that worked for you, please update this thread, as other MacOS users will benefit from your experience.

EDIT: i reread your last msg. I remember threads recently that mentioned chart saying "waiting for update". I am sure these threads were regarding windows specificly, however, maybe they found a solution. Try the search page.

If anyone is serious about MT5 and MQL5 Development, they should stick to Windows device. Its my recommendation. Emulation is possible on Mac, Android and Linux using Wine, but there is difference on running a native versus emulated version. I believe other developers also use Windows devices so they have no reason to respond on MAC threads.

 
Hi I'd like to add to this without any backup info in hopes that it is true for many users.  Strategy Tester has worked fine for me for years, then I updated Windows last night, and now all I see is a blank white screen when I open it.  Anyone else?

Found quick fix. Dock it into main Metatrader window and undock again. Works for me after that.

the reason I posted here was because both of our issues happened with Strategy Tester suddenly at the same time, after a worldwide Windows update, which made them seem related.
