Okay, thanks for info, maybe this will help for the future, but to be honest I have this situation first time. I had opened around 24 charts with EAs and I opened laptop again after few hours and I had charts with H1 time frame with EURUSD where I don't use H1 time frame and EURUSD I also don't use.
i have never had charts close like that; however, I am acutely aware, with multiple personal experiences -- when settings of eas or chart templates are reverted back to a previous or default state when I close mt4/5. It happens more reliably when I close mt4/5 by the X in the corner of the program, so now I close with the close option in Files menu, however it still happens sometimes. But it almost always happens when power is cut or i close windows by any means.
It is because both mt4/5 are old programs -- to fix it -- even mt5 will probably require a total recode and re-development -- and then give it a new name.
Reintalls it back
no. just do as Oleksandr said, "Save your profiles regularly". Abeit it does not "avoid such issues", as he said. However, it does make recovering your charts much easier when it does happen.
And saving profiles does not work always too. When there is an update of mt4/5, sometimes, profiles are rendered useless or blank. But this rarely happens.
Just remember your preferred settings of your eas and charts, save 2 or more copies of your profiles, and make regular checks that all is working as you want on a more regular time/basis.
Using a vps does avoid much of these issues -- whether that is a mql5 vps or other vps because those rarely shutdown or power is cut rarely; and maintenance "downtime", is even more rare.
However, these issues can not be avoided 100%.
