You don't. Restart the terminal; if the broker has pushed a new version, it will update.

Dear MT4 Forum Moderators,
I almost lost my account due to the upgrade of Metatrader 4 from version 1400 to version 1408.
The bots (EAs) were running there for many weeks without my supervisor. My bots are very reliable.
However, I take a look sometimes on the mobile app. I noticed the account balance was strange.
I logged into the VPS and found the message in MT4 on the right bottom corner in red: "OLD VERSION". The account was disconnected. OMG !
After the upgrade to the newest version, the bots started doing their work again.
Questions:
1) How can I get notified about new versions of Metatrader 4? Is there a link / url where new version are published?
2) Are new versions only released on Fridays ?
3) When a new version comes to the market, how many days do I have to upgrade the MT4 in order my account would not be disconnected?
4) Is it planned to shutdown MT4 for complete ? Will only MT5 exist ?
5) Any recommendation how to deal better with this issue ?
