Feed from Metatrader

Can the feed of prices to Metatrader be used to feed other charting programs as well using a dde. If so how can it be done.

FAQ at "Common Questions" covers this if you haven;t already seen it.

There's also a sample Excel spreadsheet that comes with the base install of Metatrader that you can play with as well. You should reference the destination program for their requirements though I had little trouble with Amibroker, for example.

Thank you for your information, it was a great help. I got the data running smoothly. One question I have though. If I turn my computer off for a couple of hours is there anyway to fill in the back data bars?

Not that I'm aware of, no. It's a live data feed and not back data retrieval.

There's a few products around that you might like to look at, one being HyperServer at http://www.hypertrader.it/hserver.shtml (I think their forums also speak of back data retrieval so that might also be worthwhile mulling through) - having said that, I found all this importing/exporting/DDE to be a pain to deal with.

All Hail once Metaquotes release the MT4 platform with a decent backtester.
