The single currency rose against the US dollar, pushing to new weekly highs on hopes that Greece will finally reach all the agreements needed to secure a second bailout programme.

The Cabinet has to approve a draft agreement on the terms of the bailout package today, the draft should be approved by the Eurogroup tomorrow (assuming that Troika's report is ready by then), and the program should be adopted by the Greek Parliament over the weekend.

Mizuho analysts note that "Greece is a big part of the European crisis, and a step towards solving its problems will have a positive impact on the euro in the near future, stimulating the elimination of short positions on the single currency. Experts believe the euro could rise to $1.34. At the same time, economists at Credit Agricole warn of the possibility of a "buy on rumor, sell on fact" scenario.
