The European Commission will soon conclude talks with Greece's private creditors on restructuring 100 billion euros of Greek debt, almost half of the country's debt, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Policy Olli Rehn said on Tuesday.
"We are in the final stages of negotiations to involve the private sector in the restructuring of Greek debt," he said.
Rehn stressed that these talks are being conducted in collaboration with the European Central Bank and the IMF "as part of the formation of a second stabilisation programme for Greece", ITAR-TASS reported.
Greece's total debt is now estimated at 206 billion euros, which exceeds 160% of the country's GDP.
