The week ahead promises to be an interesting and volatile week and there is a very good chance that it will set the direction of the markets for the month of February. There are too many important events. Monday and Tuesday are the quietest of the days.
It all starts on Wednesday with the US labour market data from the ADP. Everyone remember what happened after the ADP in January?
On Thursday, the big news is EU retail sales data and the announcement of the ECB's interest rate decision. Then, ECB head Trichet's press conference and the US jobless claims data.
On Friday, the big event of the week is the US non-farm payrolls. The result of this data may answer a lot of questions, including the fairness of the past data.
Considering the above events and their importance, it is fundamentally very difficult to say what the outcome of the coming week will be. Statistics have a tendency to surprise and hence the risks are very high..." Goncharov
