IIPA equates free software with pirated software

The opportunity to send comments to the U.S. Commerce Committee (USTR) about Special 301 Report was not only taken by the FSF. The International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) has also sent in its recommendations that free software be made equal to piracy, be banned, and that countries where its use is encouraged by the government be sanctioned.

It is a monstrous proposal, but the IIPA has its own reasoning: Free Software sets an example of unfair competition, hinders or blocks access to markets for software companies and as a result hinders the innovation process.
