Alpaca on MT5 ?
I recently heard about the MT5 platform, its backtest ability, its User interface and ability with Python. The Alpaca website notes that it has some type of integration with MT5. But it doesn't have any examples. Does anyone have an idea on how to write code on MT5, connect to my Alpaca account and place trades?
You don't have to code anything or use the API in order to use MT5 with them. Just open up an account via MT5 and choose them as the broker. Type the "al???.mar???" name in the broker search box.
I am deliberately not writing the broker's name because it is not allowed on the forum, but your question is so specific that it is difficult to answer you without writing it.
Alternatively, contact that broker via their site and request information from them on how to set-up an account with them to use the MT5 platform. You will need to do that anyway in order to fund the account, so you might as well start with them first.

Find Metatrader broker (there are a lot of Metatrader brokers, use google to find), and open the account according to their condition on their websites.
Try with demo first.

I'm US based. I have investigated the Alpaca API (alpaca.markets) and I find it interesting for placing trades against stocks and etfs instruments. I have written Python code to validate it.
