In this article we look at the possibility of creating a flexible news feed that offers more options in terms of the type of news and also its source. The article will show how a web API can be integrated with the MetaTrader 5 terminal.
MetaTrader 5 has many useful features that a trader would need, regardless of their trading style, including a possible access to a live news feed. It provides traders with invaluable context that may have some effect on the markets. The only limitation is the scope of the news provided. I believe, traders could benefit from having access to a more flexible news feed that allows the ability to not only choose the kind of news but also its source.
Depending on which broker you trade with, the live news feed can either be very useful or even completely useless. You have to rely on how it has been implemented in the terminal by the broker. Some brokers provide access to relevent news feeds from reputable news outlets. Others though simply do not.
