EA - Simulation VS Demo account testing

Hello everyone,

I found an EA on the market that I wanted to test. I logged into my demo account from my broker and ran the EA in the strategy tester. The results were good with the default inputs that come with the system, so I set things up, dragged it to a few charts and set it to work. It's been 4 days of running and it seems to be turning up a loss. What could be the differences between the Demo account and the strategy simulator that could be adding up to this loss?

If anyone could point me to a few resources, that would be great.

Than you all.

Maybe more slippage due to live order filling.

Possibly  server ping as well.

Depends how sensitive your EA is.

Or maybe it is just the market has changed.

Finally, maybe your observation sample is very small. Perhaps it was also going to lose before, or even going to win now. Need to observe it more, but its your money/risk.

In addition to the above, if you're backtesting in MT4 the "big ones" are unrealistic (or at least fixed) spreads and no tick data.
