Yes, believe the news, for its about real events. The only problem is that the effect on the markets may sometimes go against what people expect.
I believe that the most important thing about the news are the actual expectations about them. If everyone believes that something will go wrong with Eurozone, you should better take a look at it, doesn't matter would it happen or not...

But still, it is news and it is fundamental analysis (maybe just fundamental analysis of fundamental analysis) - sorry for tautology.
News will always impact the market, no matter what the big guys will say. So just treat them for what they are, market movers and better be on the right side...
