Dang, Ninja looks like it rocks. It'll take me some time to learn it, but, it looks like it will just rock. I may wind up blowing off learning MT programming. The only thing I don't like is its one-broker only. If I ever get Gain annoyed with me or vise-versa, I'll be stuck.

.....Amibroker is only a data anaylsis platform, you would need another 3rd party application to get it to place trades directly with any broker......

Yes, its name can be a little misleading, but it's features positively shame Metaquotes offering. The bit about needing a 3'rd party app. is not quite true though - it's quite some time since I looked, but even then, its author supplied a free API for InteractiveBroker (at least) integration. Nothing fancy, and the little experimenting I did with it proved to me it worked!

If I'm not mistaken, I think NinjaTrader can be used w/ a multitude (I might even go so far as to say PLETHORA) of brokers, MBT and IB being a couple of the premier. Check the link:

My error. Gain is the only free broker, there is a fee for others. This is their list:

* Zen-Fire

* Interactive Brokers

* MB Trading

* Patsystems

* Trading Technologies

* GAIN Capital/FOREX.com

* FuturesBetting.com

I don't even know a lot of those, but, not all of them are Forex. I already have an IB account for options, so, I'm considering getting this even if I have to pay for it. But, for Forex, I think they are only 50:1. And, to get "IDEALPRO" rates, you need to be trading larger quantities.

I just joined their forum and read some about their forex support. Of those other brokers, they do NOT support forex! You can use IB or MBT for options and the like, but not forex. At least up to version 6.0

However, version 6.5 is in beta, and supports MBT & EFX for forex. (I understand that MBT and EFX are sister companies, or ones the parent or something...) So, you got Gain, MBT and EFX, that's the only choices for forex. However, MBT/EFX are supposed to be pretty good.

I found out that 6.5 beta also supports IB for forex.

Platform that offers the real ask/bid and last closed price?

I'm surprised how hard it is to find a software that allow you to model the markets correctly. What I've been looking for is a platform that allow you to retrieve the current bid/ask levels, and also which price the last trade was made on . This will require a ECN based broker/platform, but as I have not found a decent one yet and it takes time evaluating each platform/talk with the company I was hoping someone could recommend something.

For Metatrader for example, you're stuck with the platform always giving you the Bid as the price (even if the trade was made at ask). This is the same for Multicharts - you can only set the symbol to either show bid or ask, hence you need top instruments in each chart, and the close price you get depends on if the chart is bid or ask based.

What I need is a software (and data vendor) where you can retrieve the current ask/bid price, and also see at what price the last trade was made. This must be accessible from the code, in order to analyses it. It's a plus if market depth is available as well, but so far I've only seen visual tools for this - none where you can use it in a strategy.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
