MT5 Installer Issue - page 2

honest_knave:

If you do decide to take the plunge, the free upgrade to Windows 10 has technically finished.

However, if you are somebody who uses "assistive technologies" in Windows you're still good to go... You use the magnifier tool, right?

You could probably repair your install, but TBH I find it more effort than just reinstalling.

Nice piece of info. Yes, I make extensive use of the magnifier tool, of course...

I'll dual boot it for a while I think. I can't face reinstalling everything in one go!

Hey, I appreciate this is slightly off-topic for a MQL5 forum, but I was hoping someone could give me a quick answer.

I've tried download the MT5 installer from a couple of brokers, and direct from the MetaTrader site itself, but the installer will not run.

Upon checking the event log, the following is present:

Faulting application name: mt5setup.exe, version: 5.0.0.1503, time stamp: 0x00075600

I appreciate this is something of a generic error code, but someone might have seen the same.

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro , haven't had issues with any other program I've tried to install. Tried running it off another drive, with no success.

Firewall is disabled, UAC is turned off so everything runs automatically as Admin. I've tried compatibility mode for all previous versions of Windows, no difference.

Many thanks

did you check the services from task manager? Take a look at the services.

Check them for what, specifically?

I'm also experiencing this problem. There are a couple more related errors though. I would like to ask if the OP has Visual Studio installed? I'm noticing that a series of 8 errors get generated by running the MT installer. Two of them are related to VSSetup. I won't post all the errors here because some of them are pretty long. But here are the major errors I'm seeing in chronological order. I don't think the issue is actually missing system files or hard disk errors as the logs suggest. Unfortunately, the offered solution usually isn't the one that will fix the problem. To me, it seems more like it's related to either not having access to a temp folder needed to download files, or a required library that might be missing.

I have Windows Defender disabled via group policy.

Windows Firewall is turned off.

I use MalwareBytes Anti-Malware with real-time protection for my malware protection. I've tried disabling it with no change in results.

Perhaps the OP could say whether or not anything I've stated here matches his system, and we may be able to use that information to find the cause (and solution) of the problem.

I'm having the same exact issue. I have visual studio 2015 and 2017 installed in Windows 10 64 bit on Dell XPS 15.

You can write to the service desk (to the developers) for their suggestions/advice or for possible improvement/fixing.

I think i might have found a workaround solution. You can create a new offline user account in Win 10 and install MetaTrader for all users.
