What is the usage?

Usually, I think, it means that you may put a stoploss at say 100 pips, but actually have your code close the trade when it is losing 50 pips.

So you have an effective stoploss of 50 pips that is hidden from your broker.

Fine as long as you don't lose the internet connection for any reason.

It will fails too during news since broker will freeze any orders to close/open at that time.
