Hi asking'

Add more RAM, but these 2 Qs are equally important :

1. How many chart opened on each MT - regardless TF and Symbols ?

2. How many max bar per chart did you set on each MT ?

AFAIK WIN XP can't deal with more than 2 GB RAM

1) try to increase the virtual memory

2) remove unnecessary programs from the startup

3) try to reduce the max bar per chart as onewithzachy mention

or try to change to win 7

the RAM is too low. But XP cant handle more even using the x64 version.

1 MT4 with no indicators takes 50MB with only 5000 bars in charts.

then adding indicators increase this.

Check your memory usage for each instance of MT4.

in my case I have 1 instance consuming 1000MB because I'm testing a lot of different indicators.

so your solutions...

you can use a VM, there is a lot of providers available.

or you have to get a new PC, Win 7 x64, 6GB of RAM or more.

hi onewithzachy

1. currently i open 7 chart each metatrader

2. its default from the broker max bar / history is 512.000, max bar in chart 65.000

actually my ram is 4 gb but due to xp limitation its only 3gb so i think i have to change to win7 and i will play around with bar in chart

thanks for your information

Windows XP 32 bit can support upto 4 GB RAM, windows XP 64 bit can support upto 128 GB RAM . . . MT4 on Windows XP can use upto 2GB RAM or 3GB if you use the /3GB switch.

Terminal: The terminal has been compiled with the possibility to expand the available virtual address space. The volume of the available memory is expanded from 2 Gb:
  • to 3 Gb when using 32-bit operating system. Special keys for downloading the operating system are necessary to enable this mode in 32-bit operating system;
  • to 4 Gb when using 64-bit operating system. No additional actions are required to enable this mode in 64-bit operating system.
