What are the meaning of Value, Start, Step, Stop in the Strategy Tester?

Value = current parameter value used in non-optimization (single run or visual mode)

start,step,stop range of values used in optimization. 1,2,7 parameter will be 1,3,5,7

 

What does "1,2,7 parameter will be 1,3,5,7" mean?

One more question : there are boxes beside the Variable. Should these be ticked or not?

Start = 1, Step = 2, Stop = 7

Possible values, 1 (start), 1 + 2 (start + step), 1 + 2 + 2 (start + step + step), 7 (stop)

if you want to include the start-stop range of that specific parameter during the optimization, yes.
