HI
*.mq4 files are source files and you can open them with MetaEditor. *.ex4 files are the compiled files you can put them in the Expert directory and start MetaTrader then they will appear grey in the list of files these cannot be opened or edited. Under the navigator window if you right click mouse on expert or indicator it will offer you the option of creating a file and that's a way to start making your own file. Search this forum for beginners help and look at previous post for newbies.
