Failed to find compiled .ex4 file

Hi guys,

I am still in learning phase and followed the mql4 book. I had no problem to save and see the mq4 file I created in my MetaTrader 4 folder /experts/trial.mq4. After compiling, the message window shows no error and passed the execution. However, I failed to find my corresponding trial.ex4 file in my meta trader 4 folder as instructed by the book.


the meta trader i downloaded is mt4 (english)

OS: window vista home ed.


is there any setting i need to do? the mt4 i installed is directly from mql4.com and freshly installed.


is there anyone here having the same situation, and solved the problem?

any suggestion and advice are appreciated.

Did you refresh the view of the folder? The .ex4 should be in the folder next to the .mq4

If you close & reopen MT, do you see the EA in the EA list in the Navigator window?

If no luck, check the indicators folder???

If still no luck, post code here
