executing an .exe command line from a script/indicator

Hello,

I need to execute an exe from an indicator. I have searched around and found ways to use shellexecute to open a document, but not a way of executing an .exe with no shell mapping (the application i want to use sends messages to IM clients from the command line)

Is there any way of doing this, short of writing a wrapper dll?
