Grid Moving Average of Oscillator EA (OsMA grid) turns one of the most respected momentum tools in MetaTrader 5 into a complete, self-managing grid system. Powered by the native OsMA indicator, this MT5 expert advisor recognises when market momentum has genuinely changed side. Everything after that moment, from the first level to the last slice of the oldest order, is handled by a management engine that has been rebuilt, re-tested and hardened in version 3.10.
What is new in 3.10
- A new on-chart interface: dark stone panels, amber for the grid, cyan for the hedge, serif headings and crisp numeric columns. It lives on the left, keeps the right side and the price scale clean, and fits any screen.
- A live OsMA row on the panel shows the histogram value on the signal bar and whether it sits above or below zero, so you always see what the EA sees.
- Signal arrows on the candles where a cycle was armed, so a backtest reads like a story.
- The money check was rewritten: valid orders are no longer refused on large accounts. It now simply confirms that free margin covers the order with a 50 percent buffer.
- A calmer signal rhythm (a quiet spacing of bars between accepted signals), a bounded lot ladder and a netting margin cap, so the EA behaves well on hedging and netting accounts alike.
Why OsMA, and why a grid behind it
Momentum traders love OsMA because it shows one thing clearly: whether momentum is gaining or losing strength, around a single zero line. A change of side is easy to see and easy to trust. What momentum cannot promise is that price follows straight away, and that is exactly the gap a well-managed grid is built to cover. Instead of a single all-or-nothing entry, the EA opens a measured ladder, then closes groups of orders as soon as the combined result clears your target after costs. The trigger chooses the moment; the engine handles the uncertainty.
Inside the engine
Two independent grids. Run a BUY grid and a SELL grid side by side, each with its own anchor, level counter, spacing and bar gate, or stay one-directional. Levels can grow by multiplying or by adding a fixed step (0.01, 0.02, 0.03 ...).
Volatility-aware spacing. The distance between levels can follow ATR with a floor, a ceiling and an option to freeze it for the whole cycle, so quiet and wild sessions are both treated sensibly.
A closer that works from both ends. The fragment scanner tests combinations of the oldest and newest orders and banks the best qualifying group. When the oldest order is too heavy to clear in one go, target slicing closes only a part of it, paid for by profit already on the table. Bounce by bounce the heaviest position shrinks.
Verification you can rely on. Every closure is confirmed in the deal history, failed legs are retried, plans are cancelled if the book changed, and a reopen guard stops closures that would instantly reopen the same level and waste commission.
Optional hedge cycle. Off by default. When enabled it keeps a balanced pair on a symbol you choose and retires it in slices funded by a small surcharge on normal closures, with a timer that checks and repairs both legs.
Protection without stop losses
There is no stop loss and no panic close-all. Protection works by refusing new levels when your limits say so: maximum levels per grid, maximum orders, maximum lot per order, minimum margin level, maximum floating loss and, on netting accounts, a margin cap as a percentage of equity. Every limit is a visible input; nothing is hidden in the code. SCAN ONLY mode shows every plan on the panel without sending a single order.
Getting started in five minutes
- Open the Strategy Tester, pick EURUSD H1 or XAUUSD and run the free demo in visual mode.
- Attach the EA to a live or demo chart. Start in SCAN ONLY and watch the plans; press the button to switch to ARMED when you are comfortable.
- Keep the default 0.01 starting lot with the additive ladder until you know how deep your symbol usually travels.
- Leave the hedge cycle off at first.
- Always test with your own broker's spreads, swaps and commission.

Grid - how levels are opened: trade mode (two grids or one); grid space in points for fixed spacing; spacing multiplier per level (1.0 = even); maximum levels per grid; whether an up move arms the BUY side; magic number; order comment; at most one new level per bar.
Lot ladder: starting lot; sizing mode (multiply or add); multiplier; additive step; maximum lot for any single order; auto lot with reference balance and optional scaling down.
ATR spacing: spacing mode (fixed or ATR); ATR timeframe, period, factor and bar shift; minimum and maximum spacing in points; freeze the spacing for the whole cycle.
Profit target: desired profit per closure; final multiplier; target mode (fixed or scaled); volume exponent, depth bonus, ceiling multiple and safety cap for the scaled mode.
Fragment scanner: multi-order scan on/off; maximum oldest and newest orders per closure; ranking priority; never bank less than the plain pair; closing volume must exceed target volume; minimum volume ratio.
Target slicing: partial closes on/off; profit weight per closing lot; smallest slice percent; allow several closers to club together; prefer full closures when both qualify.
Reopen guard: guard mode and safety cushion as a fraction of one grid step.
Account protection: minimum margin level for new levels; maximum floating loss percent; maximum total orders; netting margin cap in percent of equity (0 = off).
Execution and verification: run mode (ARMED or SCAN ONLY); close sequence; maximum slippage and spread; seconds between closures; attempts per leg; verify timeout; wait while the market is closed, retry interval and automatic resume; abort if the book changed; commission handling; closing comment.
Hedge cycle: enable; symbols and rotation; tester symbol cap; cycle and slice lots; bonus and bonus as percent; surcharge caps; hedge magic; reopen on finish; wait for the first grid trade; integrity check, auto repair and naked-leg action; hedge spread, slippage, attempts, timeout, commission and comment.
Weekly cash day: enable, day of week and cutoff hour to pause new cycles before a planned withdrawal.
Panel and chart: show panel; X and Y offset; font size; Arabic caption line; chart marks and signal arrows; maximum table rows; panel corner.
Entry trigger: what arms the first level (signal, distance or both); signal bar (1 = last closed bar); signal validity in bars; bars between accepted signals; allow BUY; allow SELL; invert direction.
OsMA signal: fast period; slow period; signal period; applied price; timeframe of the reading.
Debug: verbose journal logging.
