Jupiter is my favorite planet. Jupiter is the 5th planet in the solar system. Jupiter owns the record for the shortest day, with a length of 9 hours and 55 minutes according to Earth time. That is, every 9 hours and 55 minutes, it completes 1 rotation around its axis. Seen from Earth, Jupiter moves very slowly across the sky. This is because it takes this planet 11 Earth years to complete one revolution around the Sun. The Great Red Spot on Jupiter is actually a storm in the gas planet's atmosphere. This storm has been active for over 300 years and is large enough to fit 3 Earths inside it. Jupiter's upper atmosphere is mainly composed of clouds made of sulfur and ammonia. That means if you could smell it, you would find the stench very unpleasant. Jupiter is considered a "failed star" because it is composed of hydrogen and helium like the Sun but is not large enough for fusion reactions to occur.
