Grid vs Non-Grid — Which One Is Better?

Grid vs Non-Grid is a common debate among traders, as if one system must always be better than the other. In my view, both approaches have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Non-Grid systems have the advantage of limiting exposure. When a trade goes wrong, the loss is realized and the system moves on to look for the next opportunity. However, a long losing streak or a change in market conditions can gradually reduce previous profits and may require a longer recovery period.

Grid systems work differently. When price moves against an existing position, the system may add positions according to predefined rules and manage the basket as a whole. This can make the equity curve feel smoother because the system does not immediately realize a loss on every individual position.

However, the trade-off is increased floating exposure and potentially higher drawdown. This is why a grid system depends heavily on sufficient capital, controlled exposure, and disciplined risk management.

So, in my opinion, the real question is not:

“Grid or Non-Grid?”

It is:

“How well can the system manage risk when the market does not behave as expected?”

This is the philosophy behind Valtier Prime.

In my own testing, when the risk level is properly matched to the account size, Valtier Prime has shown the characteristics I am looking for: capital growth while keeping drawdown under control.

As one example, a compounded test starting with $10,000 (Broker: IC Markets, Agresive: ON, Delay: 5ms), from January 2026 to September 12, 2026 produced approximately:

Low Risk: around $9,832 profit nearly 100% growth, with approximately 5.77% DD

Medium Risk: More than 200% growth, with approximately 9.21% DD

For me, achieving around 5–10% per month with controlled drawdown is already a very reasonable objective.

If the goal is to generate a larger nominal return, I would personally prefer to increase the capital rather than aggressively increase the risk.

For example, if a system is designed to operate with controlled risk, increasing the account size can increase the potential nominal return without necessarily requiring a higher risk level.

I have also tested Valtier Prime under more extreme conditions. When the risk level is properly matched to the account size and used with discipline, the system has demonstrated the ability to remain within a manageable drawdown range across the conditions I tested.

That is why Valtier Prime is not designed for traders looking to “get rich quickly.”

It is designed for those who understand that in trading:

Survival comes before aggressive growth.
Consistency matters more than chasing extreme returns.
And risk management matters more than simply looking at the win rate.

I also encourage potential users to test the EA themselves with an appropriate account size and risk level before using it on a live account.

If the backtest produces a drawdown significantly higher than expected, don't simply increase the risk. Instead, review the broker, trading conditions, parameters, and market characteristics first.

Because ultimately, the purpose of a trading system is not simply to generate profit.

It is to survive long enough to keep growing.

Run Multiple Modes Simultaneously
