I have done alot of backtesting with Indicies using two brokers ICM & Roboforex both ECN accounts.  The results on ICM are incredible but do not mirror the results on Robofoex which were very poor.  Can you explain the difference? 

Well the difference is you are using two different brokers and they have different data feeds. With a strategy that looks at candlestick patterns and enters based on specific candlestick patterns like breakouts, you often see more of a difference. 

i would suggest some good quality data and to test it on the broker of the prop firm you are looking to use it on.

I used the following setting on USTECH

TIMEFRAME 5 MINS

PULLBACK 2

EXPIRATION 24

LOTS 0

FIXED PERCENTAGE 1

TAKE PROFIT 1000

SL 150

TRAILING SL 35

SL 15

BOOM!! 

I also can’t comment on those settings or pair as they are not recommended for the prop firm pass challenge. A pullback of two 5 minute candles doesn’t seem like a very good way of trading to me. But it’s up to you of course

Any chance for a news filter? ex. stop trades a hour before and after news due to spread spikes

Yes, a news filter is coming. I was going to add one originally but I found lots of the challenges got passed due to large news breakouts so I didn’t add it in the end. Currently working on improvements for my Havana EA but I will update in the comments when the filter is added.

Hello, can you explain the expiration setting?

For example, I am using it on the 5 min timeframe and have it set to 5.

Does this mean after 5, 5-minute candles (25mins) the buy/sell order will cancel, and a new order will be added?

Hi, so it’s done in hours. If it’s set at 5, the order will expire in 5 hours.

Hello, I just bought the EA and wanted to run a backtest, but unfortunately, no trades are being executed from January 2023 to November 2025. I've configured the settings as shown in the screenshot. Is there anything I should be aware of, or have I overlooked something? Thank you.

Is there's a detailed guide or description available, specifically for the input parameters "SizeofPullback", "Expiration", and "MinimumDistance". The rest is pretty self-explanatory. Thank you.

Okay nice. I made this EA as simple as possible for the user so it didn't require a guide. 

Here are the input explanations:
  • Timeframe - Timeframe for strategy calculation
  • SizeOfPullback - Size of pullback in candles
  • Expiration - Expiration in hours, when the pending orders expire.
  • Lots - Static Lots
  • RiskPerTradeInPercentage - Dynamic Lots (percentage of balance risked per trade)
  • MinimumDistance - Minimum distance between orders
  • TakeProfit - Take Profit in points
  • StopLoss - Stop Loss in points
  • TrailingSLActivate - Activate trailing stop loss at x points
  • TrailingSL - Distance behind price high  / lowest price the stop loss trails in points
