Aurelia Gold Edge is an Expert Advisor for gold (XAUUSD) that places stop orders at confirmed swing levels on the H1 chart, in the direction of the move in progress. Every order carries a stop loss and a take profit with the broker from the moment it is placed. An account guard stops trading before the daily and maximum loss limits of the program you select, so a bad day ends early instead of ending the account.
HOW IT WORKS
- Swing levels: a high or low counts only after 18 closed H1 bars on each side confirm it, and only when the swing is at least 4.0 ATR long. A confirmed level never changes afterwards, so the Strategy Tester and a live chart see the same levels.
- Entry: a buy stop above the last confirmed high, or a sell stop below the last confirmed low, in the direction of the latest swing, only when the level is within 1.5 ATR of the price. An order that has not been reached after 16 H1 bars is withdrawn.
- Exit: stop loss 2.0 ATR and take profit 8.0 ATR from the entry level. Once a trade is 3.0 ATR ahead, the stop trails 1.5 ATR behind the price. After a position closes the EA waits 15 minutes.
- One trade per swing: once a side has traded, it stays closed until the market makes a swing in the other direction.
- Positions: at most one per direction. On a hedging account a buy and a sell can be open at the same time when the market turns quickly; each keeps its own stop loss.
FIRM PROGRAM SETTING
One input, Firm program, sets the account rules and the risk per trade that each program below was tested with. It fills in numbers only: it does not check the account, the server or the symbol. Custom uses your own values from the guard inputs.

THE ACCOUNT GUARD
- Daily loss: stops new entries and closes open trades a set buffer before the daily limit. The day starts at the time the program uses (Central European midnight, New York 17:00, a fixed GMT hour or the server midnight).
- Maximum loss: a static line under the starting balance, or a line that trails the running high where the program works that way. The EA stops for good before it is reached.
- Profit target: optional. With a target set, the EA can close everything and stop once it is reached and the minimum number of trading days is met.
- Program rules where they apply: minimum position age before a stop is moved, no larger lot after a losing trade, closing before the weekend.
- The guard keeps its state per account, so a restart cannot reset the starting balance or clear a stop. A separate input clears it deliberately when you move to a new account.
WHAT THIS EA DOES NOT DO
- No grid, no martingale, no averaging into a losing position, no hedging of a loss.
- No order without a stop loss.
- It does not promise to reach a profit target, and in quiet markets it can go months without reaching one.
- It does not trade news or react to the economic calendar.
- It does not need a DLL, a web connection or any file.
RECOMMENDED SETUP
- Symbol: XAUUSD (gold). The EA trades any symbol it is attached to, but it was tested on gold only.
- Chart: any timeframe. The engine reads H1 bars itself.
- Account: hedging account recommended. On a netting account it holds one position or order at a time.
- Balance: 10,000 or more. Measured on XAUUSD with the default 1 % risk: from 10,000 the risk setting sizes the trades (in Jan-Aug 2026 the 0.01 minimum lot was larger than the risk size on one day, at up to 1.8 % risk). At 5,000, 31 of the 33 trades in that period opened at 0.01 lots, risking up to 3.5 %.
- One chart per account for a prop firm program, so the guard sees every trade.
INPUTS
- Firm program: the program whose rules and tested risk to use, or Custom.
- Starting balance: the balance the program was opened with (0 = balance when the EA starts).
- Position size: risk percent of equity, or a fixed lot.
- Risk per trade: 0 uses the tested value of the program (1.0 for Custom).
- Fixed lot size, minimum-lot risk ceiling, maximum spread.
- Signal engine: swing timeframe, swing depth, minimum swing leg, entry distance, stop loss, take profit, trailing start and distance, order lifetime, pause after a close, ATR period. The defaults are the tested values.
- Account guard (Custom program): daily loss limit and how it is measured, buffers, maximum loss and whether it trails, profit target, minimum trading days, day start time, minimum hold time, no larger lot after a loss, Friday close hour, risk reduction above a profit level.
- Server clock: the trade server offset from GMT and whether it follows EU summer time.
- Strategy Tester: commission per lot the guard deducts in a backtest.
- Expert: magic number, order comment, slippage, status panel, reset stored guard state.
REQUIREMENTS
- MetaTrader 5, a broker that allows Expert Advisors and stop orders.
- XAUUSD with a minimum lot of 0.01 or smaller for small accounts. When the risk setting asks for less than the minimum lot, the EA uses the minimum lot only while that risks no more than the minimum-lot ceiling (10 percent of equity by default, 0 = never above the risk setting); otherwise it skips the trade and says why in the Experts log. On a prop firm account sized 5,000 or more this does not come into play at the tested risk.
