As long as the macd is + phase ( above 0 line ) it may be a uptrend. and when it goes down to the - phasse ( below 0 line ) it may be a down trend continuation.

I usually use MACD most of the time in divergences. because MACD is cross of 2 moving averages which have delay in changing. but as a fast direction detection it maybe helpful. use it in addition to your other strategy items.

hi, I will try to check the code again. for the indicator to not having a repaint it should not calculate the last open ( live market candle ) and should do the calculation based on the closed candles only which causes delay.

so maybe I can write another version of it which calculates only based on closed and fixed candles data.

I saw your struggling to adjust/rewrite this indicator for MT5, so I must THANK YOU for the indicator.

I have a question and a request:

QUESTION: (refer to previous discussion with Roman)

Can we use this indicator in live market or we SHOULD NOT?

REQUEST:

Is it possible for you to add alarm ( push notification and etc. ) to this indicator?

I'll be grateful if you add this conditions to set the alarm:

1- Negative MACD, signal cross up MACD

2- Negative MACD, signal cross down MACD

3- Signal cross up zero line

4- Signal cross down zero line

5- Positive MACD, signal cross up MACD

6- Positive MACD, signal cross down MACD

7- MACD cross up zero line

8- MACD cross down zero line

9- ... (these conditions popped up in my mind, please add another possible conditions)

Finally, would you please explain the formula of the indicator? especially, the signal line?

hi, about the first question, the indicator can be used to help your analysis and trades, but like every other indicator, its getting data from the past and the future may not go 100% as expected. so always use them with strict money management and risk control.

about the signal line its calculating the ema of the macd histogram. here is the code:

iMAOnArrayMQL4(MACDBufferZeroLag,/*dstArray*/SignalEMAArray,SignalEMA,i);
iMAOnArrayMQL4(SignalEMAArray,/*dstArray*/SignalEMABuffer,SignalEMA,i);
SignalBuffer[i] = (2*SignalEMAArray[i]) - SignalEMABuffer[i];

but in this indicator version I modified that code later.

for example:

"stock/currency _ timeframe _ condition that has been set _ MACD amount _ SIGNAL amount"

the result that appears on the cellphone is like this:

"AUDCAD - D1 - MACD crossed up zero line - MACD : 2415 - SIGNAL: 2445"

Please consider when an alarm triggers, ALWAYS, MACD amount and SIGNAL amount have to be sent.

I'm looking forward to test/use the new version of this indicator.

sadly I don't work with apple iPhone or mac devices. I just use windows / linux and android. for metatrader I only use it in windows.

I have started converting my other indicators to MQL5 version too. I will set a time to review this macd code to add alarm for it.
