New Range Dynamics EURJPY

EURJPY Range Dynamics

EURJPY Range Dynamics is a session range breakout Expert Advisor built for EURJPY. It trades the breakout of the Tokyo morning range, but only when both legs of the pair agree, and it closes every open trade at a fixed hour. No grid, no martingale, no averaging. One position at a time, with a fixed stop loss and a fixed risk per trade.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Range. The EA measures the high and low of the Tokyo morning window, by default 02:00 to 05:30 broker server time.
2. Breakout. A trade is prepared only when a bar closes outside that range on the entry timeframe. A wick through the level is not enough.
3. Basket confirmation. EURJPY is made of two legs: the euro and the yen. Before entering, the EA checks EURUSD and USDJPY. A EURJPY buy needs a rising EURUSD (strong euro) and a rising USDJPY (weak yen). The move of both is measured in ATR units, so the filter adapts to volatility.
4. Time exit. Any trade that is still open at 12:00 server time is closed. The EA does not carry the position into the European and US afternoon.
5. Risk. Stop loss from the volatility of the pair, limited to a share of the range. Take profit as a multiple of the stop. Fixed money risk per trade.

WHY THE TIME EXIT

In our tests the breakout of the Tokyo range did its work within a few hours. Holding the position longer added losses, not profit. The largest decline of the balance grew step by step with a later exit: about 410 USD with an exit at 10:00, 500 USD at 12:00, 700 USD at 14:00 and more than 1,000 USD at 16:00 or later. Closing at noon also lifted the win rate from 34 % to 52 %.

BACKTEST RESULTS

EURJPY, M15, real ticks, January 2024 to October 2026. Deposit 10,000 USD, fixed risk 50 USD per trade (0.5 %), default settings.

Year            Trades   Net USD   Win rate   Profit factor   Loss streak
2024             147      +477      49.7 %       1.17             6
2025             134     +1,220     55.2 %       1.58             6
2026 (to Oct)    101      +632      49.5 %       1.33             7
Total            382     +2,329     51.6 %       1.34             7

Largest decline of the closed balance: 501 USD (about 5 % of the deposit).
Largest equity drawdown inside a single year: 5.1 %.

Please read these numbers correctly. About one trade in two wins. Around 63 % of all trades end at the time exit, 30 % at the stop loss and 7 % at the take profit. The average winner was 47 USD and the average loser 36 USD at 50 USD risk. The edge is small and steady, not spectacular. Series of 6 to 7 losing trades in a row occurred in every test year. 2024 was the weakest year.

ROBUSTNESS

The default values were not picked as a single best result. Neighbouring settings were tested as well and stayed profitable in the three-year test: range start 01:45 to 02:30, range length 195 to 240 minutes, exit hour 11:00 to 13:00, basket threshold 0.1 to 0.3 and without basket. A range start at 01:30 or a range of 180 minutes was clearly weaker, so these values should not be used.

PROP FIRM USE

The EA works with a fixed stop loss, a fixed risk per trade, one trade per day and no overnight positions. Daily and total loss limits of an evaluation account can be planned in advance. It does not guarantee passing an evaluation.

RISK NOTICE

All figures are backtest results on historical tick data of one broker. Results with other brokers will differ. Past results do not guarantee future results. Test the EA on a demo account with your own broker first and risk only money you can afford to lose.
