I seek not to follow the "trend" - because in fact price has no "trend." If you follow the so-called "trend," the "trend" will kill you, because that approach averages out by too much, the risk you face, and hides when that risk ahead in the most frustrating way possible. So regardless of how you play it - with that method you can only win what chance allows and no more (that of course is true for anything you do or can ever do trading - just that following a false measure hurts you in a special way). To see this, we look at it from a different angle, a different way of measurement. Chaos theory tells me that price is a singularity - a single point bounced around by some unspecified [we can call that the market] iterative process in bounded space [lets call that range or the ever changing bounds - up or down we realize, when we trade] and fractal geometry represents it by fractured lines - fractals. I elect therefore to follow price and ignore completely its illusion - the trend. You would too if you understand what I am talking about fundamentally.
