I’ve recently developed an EA that challenges the traditional 2% risk rule. It’s built around a “10 Lives” system that keeps your risk fixed, simplifies compounding, and actually makes a 50% win rate profitable.
Let me explain the concept — I’d really love to hear your thoughts!
Here’s the problem I see with the usual 2% rule:
If I start with a £1000 account and work with a 2:1 risk/reward ratio, my first loss takes me down to £980. My second loss drops me to £960.40. Even if I win the third trade, I only get back to £998.82 — still below break-even.
At first glance, this might seem minor. But over time, it’s similar to the casino’s house edge: small, consistent losses that slowly diminish your account.
My “10 Lives” approach flips this on its head.
Instead of calculating 2% risk for each trade, the EA calculates what fixed risk amount your account can handle 10 times over (considering margin, etc.).
This creates 10 “lives,” all with equal risk value — no shrinking bet sizes. Once you grow beyond your original balance, the EA recalculates your 10 lives based on the new total. That way, you’re compounding sustainably and consistently, without the emotional rollercoaster of adjusting risk every trade.
