Can someone please verify MT4 DDE to Excel is working in Win 7 64 bit

I cannot find anything in the documentations for detecting the chart period an EX ia attached to. I'd like to get values from other timeframes based on the current chart's period. TIA

I have a routine to read a file on init(), then would like to pass the value to start(). How can I pass this value to start()? I don't want to read the disk on every tick
