TradeLedger Reconciled Trade Journal

TradeLedger turns your MetaTrader 5 deal history into a clean, auditable trade journal, and proves that it adds up.

The terminal history lists individual deals. TradeLedger rebuilds every position from its deals (entries, scale-ins, partial closes and close-by) and writes one CSV row per position with commission, swap and broker fees shown separately. Then it checks that all deals plus deposits and withdrawals add up to your account balance, so you know the journal is complete.

What you get

  • TradeLedger_positions.csv: one row per position with 17 columns: position id, symbol, magic, side, status (closed / open or partial), open and close time, volume in and out, average open and close price, gross profit, commission, swap, fee, net result and number of deals.
  • TradeLedger_summary.csv: closed and open positions, win rate, net trading result in scope, balance operations, the sum of the whole deal history, the account balance and the difference.
  • A reconciliation status: RECONCILED when the deal history matches the balance to the cent, otherwise a clear MISMATCH with the difference.
  • Filters by start date, magic number and symbol, so you can journal one strategy or one market.
  • A small on-chart summary. The files refresh automatically when new trades close.

Safe by design

  • On live and demo accounts TradeLedger is read-only: it never opens, closes or modifies trades or orders.
  • It does not need DLLs or WebRequest, and nothing leaves your computer. The files are written to the terminal's MQL5/Files folder.
  • Works on hedging and netting accounts and with any symbol. On netting accounts, a reversal (one deal that closes the position and opens the opposite side) is recorded as a close of the old position; the reversed part is not split into its own row in this version. The balance reconciliation is not affected.

How to use

  1. Attach TradeLedger to any chart.
  2. Optionally set From date, Magic filter (-1 = all) and Symbol filter (empty = all).
  3. Open File > Open Data Folder > MQL5 > Files and load the CSV files in Excel, Google Sheets or any analytics tool.

Strategy Tester note

In the Strategy Tester, the input "Tester demo trades" opens simple test trades so you can see the journal working during the demo. This input has no effect on live or demo accounts.

Validation

Tested on EURUSD H1, 1 Sep to 1 Oct 2026: 264 positions and 528 deals were rebuilt, the net result (-57.70) matched the Strategy Tester report exactly, and the difference against the final balance was 0.00. It was also run on a live demo account, where the deal history matched the balance (difference 0.00).

TradeLedger is a record-keeping and analysis utility. It does not trade, does not give signals and does not promise any profit.
