This comprehensive overview details the functionality, structure, and calculation methods of the Price Action Gold Trader indicator, designed for XAUUSD (Gold) trading on MetaTrader 4 (MT4).
The indicator provides automated Price Action pattern detection, structured trading levels (SL/TP), and real-time market state diagnostics through a dashboard. All signals are Non-Repainting, confirmed only after the bar closure
I. Multi-Timeframe (MTF) Structure
The system utilizes a dedicated three-tier timeframe hierarchy for analysis
D1 (Context): Used to determine the overall market bias and context. The D1 Context State displays whether a D1 signal is Running, or has reached TP1 or TP2
H4 (Primary): The main timeframe for detecting Price Action patterns
H1 (Entry): The timeframe used to confirm the final entry trigger signal
II. Price Action Patterns and Entry Modes
The indicator detects three specific H4 Price Action patterns and offers two entry strategies
Pattern
Detection Criteria
Entry Mode 1 (E1)
Entry Mode 2 (E2)
Priority Score (Factor 1)
PAT1 (Pin Bar)
Long Wick (≥60%), Small Body (≤40%)
Available (Faster, Higher Risk)
Not Available
E1: 25%
PAT2 (Engulfing)
Current bar engulfs previous bar (≥50%)
Available
Available (Conservative, Checkpoint required)
E1: 10% (Lowest) / E2: 15%
PAT3 (3-Bar)
Three-bar reversal pattern
Available
Available (Highest Reliability)
E1: 22% / E2: 40% (Highest)
Entry Mechanisms:
Entry 1: Entry occurs on the bar immediately following the PA pattern closure (for PAT2/PAT3) or the next bar (for PAT1)
Entry 2: A more conservative mode used for PAT2 and PAT3, triggered only after the price reaches the Checkpoint Line within the Body Collection Zone
III. Confidence Percentage Calculation
Every detected signal receives a Confidence Score (0-100%) calculated by summing three key factors
Confidence Percentage=Factor 1+Factor 2+Factor 3
1. Factor 1: Priority Score (0–40%): Based on the pattern type and entry mode, with PAT3 Entry 2 yielding the maximum 40%
2. Factor 2: Sideway Position (0–30%): Evaluates the signal’s location within the Sideway Box range, adhering to the Buy Low / Sell High principle
    ◦ Optimal score (30%) is achieved when a Buy signal occurs in the Lower Zone (0-30%) or a Sell signal occurs in the Upper Zone (70-100%)
    ◦ If the Sideway Box is disabled, the default score is 15%
3. Factor 3: Alignment H4/H1 (0–30%): Measures Multi-Timeframe Confluence
    ◦ Maximum score (30%) is awarded when the H4 signal and the H1 signal show the Same Direction (e.g., Buy on H4 and Buy on H1)
    ◦ If the directions are Opposite or if one timeframe has No Signal, the score drops to 10%
Confidence Interpretation:
🟢 High Confidence: ≥70% (Strong signal with multiple confirmations)
🟡 Medium Confidence: 40%–70% (Moderate signal quality)
🔴 Low Confidence: <40% (Weak signal or conflicting factors)
IV. Dashboard Components
The indicator provides a comprehensive dashboard, typically located in the top-left corner, displaying six key sections
1. MTF Trend (ADX): Shows the trend direction (Up/Down/Sideway) for Month, Week, Day, H4, and H1 timeframes, based on the ADX indicator , .
2. Today's Market State: Provides market context, including the higher timeframe bias ( Pending Sig (D1) ), the D1 signal status ( Context State ), and the general market condition ( Market State ) for H4 and H1 (Trend/Sideway)
3. PA H4 Signals: Details the current H4 setup, showing the pattern type (e.g., PAT3-Buy [E2]), the H4 Confidence score (0–100%), the signal confirmation status, and if the price is Entering Collect Body
4. PA H1 Signals: Details the current H1 entry trigger signal and its independent confidence score.
5. Last Closed Signals: Tracks the history of the most recently closed H4 and H1 signals, showing the final outcome (e.g., TP Full or Invalidated)
6. Controls: Interactive buttons allowing the user to toggle the visibility of the Sideway Box and to enable or disable the Entry 1 mode for each of the three PA patterns (PAT1, PAT2, PAT3)
