Hi fellows, i never programmed before, except working in excel formulas. So i have a doubt,  it's possible if i just read the complete 4000 pages book 

of mql5, i will be able to do anything  i wish, create complexes EAS, indicators, etc?!. Or it's losing time, i need combine that with another knowledge or previousily work with 

 programming

At first I had only experience with Excel formulas, just like you. 

I was a complete noob when it comes to MQL4/5 or c++ programming.

I decided that I want to learn programming so after a few months of learning and practicing, I could build my own (crappy) EA.

Now after two years, I can program everything that is possible and I have my own working EA.


I started first by reading c++ for dummies. (it's free) to learn the basis of the c++ language, c++ and MQL5 are very similar.

Later I switched to MQL5, adjusting existing examples on this site to see what happened.

Reading the "documentation" and forum examples and after that, building my own versions of the custom indicators.


It is possible to learn MQL5 in a short period of time. But you need the motivation and perseverance to learn the coding language.

Thanks for answering, now i have more hope to learn to code anything on mql5. Its must be really  amazing to code your own  strategies

this topic is great since it also applies to me. am not a guy with a lot of cash so I will learn my way to financial freedom. I to am new , well am learning java-script and ruby currently and one soon i might build my own strategy app . automation is cool.
