What is considered an edge? - page 8

Ryan L Johnson #:

Yes. A market maker broker can see your stop loss because it is recorded in their internal order management system. This is simply a technical reality of how market maker execution works, not necessarily evidence of wrongdoing

At this point, I am pretty sure OP considers stop and limit orders being the same (which aren't).. As I said, and as it is publicly avail, eg CME offers the kind of info OP dreams off, but for limit orders alone - and from what I can gather at a rather reasonable price.. Now, I do not know what banks in a OTC environment are doing, but as I also said, just go on and use a EA to hide your stops

But most importantly, assuming that this info (order book) is the only one that gives a trader the ability to win is presumably wrong.. Also, even more so, order blocks are quite visible on a chart anyway, as top/bottoms, but of course no one ever knows what direction - or order block, will be the next one the market goes - some times the flow changes direction in the middle of a "move" as well..

Regarding the market maker situation, I suppose there could be a company being both a market maker and a broker, but this should be rare and also very likely heavily regulated; plus I could not care less what happens with banks/brokers, as long as I cover my positions alright

Stop and Limit orders are not the same.

Limit orders are resting orders visual in the orderbook.

Stop orders are not visible. Its first when they get hit that they will be visible as market orders.

Amen to that. I'm not here to poopoo anybody's particular, and legal, strategy. At the end of the day, it's "your money." Trade it however you like, I say. I have my own profitable scalping EA that I don't share, and I don't feel compelled to prove it to anyone. I do however, share most of its individual components in my user Profile.

What I respectfully refuse to do is promote illegal market manipulation. I'm not the market police, so I sincerely hope that: (a) the regulators in the OP's jurisdiction don't see his self-incriminating posts, or (b) the applicable statutes of limitations have expired. In a perfect world, a Moderator would remove those posts.

@Thomas Olof Gardling, the fact that "this happens every day" is irrelevant to the legality of it. The law is often enforced unequally. That is how a retail options trader, RoaringKitty, ended up in a U.S. Congressional Hearing.

I'm not selling anything, nor am I promoting anything. I'm just stating the fact that this is happening right now under your noses and has for some time.

I'm not using any of this information anymore, as I wrote earlier I lost my money and the information in a non related way.

People (sellers or vendors here) seem to feel threatened and feel that they need to aggressively come at me in some way though.

I'm sorry to hear that. For whatever it's worth, I don't bask in the plight of others.

That definitely happens from time to time. Personally, I'm not a web marketer.

If people really red this threads before they were submitting anything into it, they would  know that I have stated several times that I lost my money and the information.

They would also notice the behavior of sellers here that feel threatened by my statements that retail indicators will not work more than 50/50.

That's ok but based on my legal education, any online confessions should be removed to protect you and any conspirators. I'm trying to help you─not launch accusations.

That must be your experience with technical analysis. TBH, my technical analysis trading EA has over a 60% win rate for both longs and shorts. Even that is not the end-all-be-all. There are many more components than a simple line on a custom chart.

Again I say, everyone has there own way to trade. The fact that one person profitably trades one way does not negate another person's other way of profitably trading. Former long-time Forum Moderator, Fernando Carreiro, corrected everyone regarding that matter years ago.

Hehe I am wondering now if we should consider any connection of grid trading mentality to illegal inclined activity :)

Fair enough, lets see what the forum or any moderators here think about it.

As long as you make money on it I guess

Think about what ?

Moderators don't have time to read all in details, so we can miss things when there is a lot of text.
