Indicators: Market Structure SMC: Swings, BOS/CHoCH, Order Blocks, FVG, QML - page 3

It's important to be cautious with these types of indicators: they're drawn after the fact, confirming what's already visible when the trading opportunity has already passed. To beginners, I want to say that chart patterns create illusions that have already vanished.

With respect, I don't think any indicator on the market actually predicts where price will go next — and if one truly does, please tell me which, because I'd genuinely love to know. I'd be first in line for it.

Every indicator, SMC included, is built from past data. It isn't there to tell you where price is heading — it's there to organize what has already happened so that you can decide your next move. That isn't a weakness specific to this tool; it's simply what an indicator is.

So the caution is fair, but it applies to indicators in general, not to structure mapping in particular. Treated as a decision aid rather than a forecast — and with this one marking structure only on the close — it does exactly what it's meant to.

Clean, focused SMC structure mapper. The InpBreakOnClose switch between close-confirmed and wick breaks is a genuinely useful input that changes how aggressively BOS/CHoCH are marked, and the N-bar fractal swing sensitivity lets you adapt to different timeframes without editing code. Having OB, FVG and the QML retrace line all derived from the same structure logic keeps the chart consistent. All markings being close-confirmed and redrawn per bar keeps false signals to a minimum.
Thank you — I really appreciate you reading it that closely. You've pinned down exactly the design intent: keeping OB, FVG and the QML retrace all derived from the same structure logic was the whole point, so the chart stays consistent instead of three tools disagreeing with each other. And yes — InpBreakOnClose and the N-bar fractal are there so you can adapt sensitivity across timeframes without touching the code. Glad it's landing the way it was meant to
