Does MT5 Journal show the client’s real IP address or the server/Cloudflare IP?

Hello,

I have a technical question regarding MetaTrader 5.

A prop trading firm informed me that my account was accessed from the IP address 162.158.111.220 on 19 June 2026. However, I also found the same IP address in my MT5 Journal under the authorization log.

After checking, it appears that 162.158.111.220 belongs to Cloudflare infrastructure.

Could someone please clarify the following:

  1. Does the IP address shown in the MT5 Journal represent the client’s actual public IP address, or is it the trading server/CDN (such as Cloudflare) IP?
  2. Is it normal for the MT5 Journal to display a Cloudflare IP instead of the user’s real IP?
  3. If a broker or prop firm states that this IP is my login IP, could they be misinterpreting the MT5 server connection logs?

I’m trying to understand how MT5 networking and logging work from a technical perspective.

Thank you for your help.

Does MT4/5 pass my IP information to my broker

It depends on the broker's rule related to it.

For example, many users are having dynamic IP address.
I have dynamic IP address too (because I do not want to pay for static IP address in my home).
I mean: if I restart my router so my IP will be changed (from one city to an other one ... but I am still at my home ...).
And no one is banning me.

You can ask the broker about it (because it depends on the broker's rule).
