Difficult to select text in MetaEditor (copy and paste)

Hello everyone

I am facing a very annoying issue while I am coding in MetaEditor: I find very difficult to select part of the text or whole rows of text (for further copy and paste action)

It's a very elementary action, but when I select text, the editor keeps deselecting right after, or even a bad combo of deselecting and swapping smaller parts of the text.


I would like to know whether someone experiences this kind of issues, and hopefully how to solve it.

I never had this issue. I know that if you select a text and drag the selected part, it will move the text to another location. Depending on what I need to do, I use Shift + arrow keys on the keyboard to select text.
It might be a problem with your mouse…

sounds like a OS or mouse issue. Also check your cable connection to your mouse. Those usb buggers can be fidgety. yes, i am sure that is a word!

I’ve run into something similar before in MetaEditor. A few tips you can try:

  • Keyboard selection: Use Shift + Arrow keys or Ctrl + Shift + Arrow to highlight text more reliably instead of dragging with the mouse.

  • Disable drag-and-drop editing: Go to Tools → Options → Editor and uncheck “Enable drag and drop text editing” (this prevents accidental swapping when you try to select).

  • Mouse/USB check: Make sure your mouse cable or USB connection isn’t causing intermittent clicks. A faulty mouse button can feel like “deselecting.”

  • Update MetaEditor: Sometimes older builds have quirks—updating to the latest version may fix glitches.

If none of that works, try testing with another mouse or using MetaEditor on another PC to see if the issue is hardware or software related.
