I understand that mt5 auto downloads history data when starting a back test but I was wondering if that is the data for all time frames or just the selected time frame? Would I need to run it on all time frames if I need the data from all time frames?

Different from MT4, MT5 builds its history from M1 Bars, so basically when you download the data you are downloading M1 data and the rest of the timeframes are being build based on that.

The MetaTrader 5 client terminal has been developed from scratch and far surpasses its predecessor, of course. The new trading platform provides unlimited opportunities for trading in any financial market. Moreover, its functionality keeps expanding to offer even more useful features and convenience. So, it is now quite difficult to list all the numerous advantages of MetaTrader 5. We have tried to briefly describe them in one article, and we got surprised with the result' the article is far from brief!

Thank you. I also discovered mt5 calculates the spread based on the historical data which I think is great.
