This is more a question of terminology (or philosophy).
Macd is regarded as an LPF difference, but the output is a filtered trend and an HF component, rather than a bandpass filter.
Again, can wavelets be considered a special case of filters. Does the spectrum of the original signal change? It changes, sort of like a filter.
It would be interesting to read, there hasn't been anything on this topic for a while.
There is no philosophy in mathematics and DSP. You can call a giraffe a fish without scales and fins, but it won't become a fish ))
At the MAD output we have a difference of two LF filters outputs and a mouving from this difference. That's it, there's nothing else there, no HF components or bandpass filters. They turn out quite differently.
All in all, don't make up non-existent entities.
