How do I see the trade value before executing a trade on MetaTrader 4?

 

I am trying to learn the ropes of mt4 and forex trading in general, in a practice account, but I cannot get my  head around this.. If I use the web client it tells me exactly how much money I am putting into a trade, but on mt4 I cannot see any thing similar.

It does? I was unaware of that. What value is it calculating? The margin or the risk base on the stop-loss?

On MetaTrader desktop application, one has to calculate that manually, either mentally, or via a calculator or spreadsheet, or by using a MQL coded utility to do that for you. You have to calculate both the risk based on the stop-loss size as well as the margin too.
