.rar is an archive file format: first you need to unzip it, and then it should contain the necessary files for installation in mt5

First of all you need to extract, you can do this through a winrar or Mac Window Manager, and after, paste the files in the correct path. I am not sure if it’s still possible to download anymore a link on metatrader5, cause they started to promote more aggressively from 2017. As a recommendation you will need to get a metatrader4 from a broker, obviously not for free, and you must be sure that supports it. If u want you can try to send one of the rar files, I will see what I can do. I hope that my answer can be helpful for you.

7z also can extract it, as well as any other compression types (e.g. TAR, ISO, etc.).
 
Rar is a form of saving a files, similar to zip. Search winrar.com and you can open rar and zip files with it.
