hi guys, 

Is MetaEditor for editing mq4 type files no longer usable .. ???

 
MQLx are simple text files. Editor works fine.

Of course it is useable.

Open the editor from your MT4 platform.


Topics concerning MT4 and MQL4 have their own section.

In future please post in the correct section.

because I feel as if everyone has used mq5 and has ditched their mq4

I don't know why you would feel that.

In my opinion MT4 is a much more user friendly platform than MT5 and it is probably the reason that MT4 remains the more popular platform. This is despite Metaquotes efforts to con new traders to download MT5 when they are trying to download MT4! For years you can only download MT4 from a broker.

I just had a look at the first 3 pages of Freelance jobs.

12 for MQL4 and 8 for MQL5.
11 for MQL4 and 9 for MQL5.
14 for MQL4 and 6 for MQL5.

That seems to show that there are more traders using MT4 than Mt5.
